Our philosophy strives for a traditional natural approach to winemaking.
We believe our wines are first made in the vineyard. We believe Sonoma County is Zinfandels finest area in the world. It’s unique climate, soil, and vine conditions are spectacular at achieving absolute ripeness of fruit from the vintage. No where else can produce wines of such great power and complexity while maintaining such vibrancy, balance and charm.
Our Inspirit label celebrates mother nature’s instinctive direction to making wines true to there region and site. Our goal is to allow the grapes to express their own character, with utilizing the vineyards own natural yeast. Inspirit is about “capturing the light” through minimal handling and instinctive choices in winemaking, to allow the vineyards “true” nature to be revealed.
To maximize flavors, we use our techniques of extended cold soaking, numerous day & night hand punch downs, with long extraction through extended maceration. The wines are minimally racked and rarely fined or filtered. Flavors are accented with small cooperage in primarily American oak. Wines are blended by taste. Our style includes small additions of Petite Sirah, without sacrificing the wines varietal character.
Our “Late Picked” Zinfandel is produced from grapes allowed to ripen above full maturity. These wines are admired for there ripeness and power,
exhibiting darker liquor type fruit with rich, more exotic flavors, aromas and spices.
Our “Heritage Clone” Zinfandel is made from ranches planted to the original
Croatian clone of Zinfandel brought to Sonoma County in the 1870’s. These wines are loved not for there fruit forwardness, but for their mouth filling rich rustic texture, “old world” dark fruit flavors, and array of crushed spices.
Winemaker, Robert Peterson, is a student of food and wine. A self taught chef and winemaker, Robert has traveled to most of the worlds wine regions collecting his experiences of regional cuisine, wine varietals, cultures and techniques. Founding the BBQ Boys catering company of Silicon Valley in 1989, Bob developed hundreds of innovative recipes to pair with wines from Ridge Vineyards, Rosenblum Cellars, Talty Vineyards, and over 30 winery clients. His inspiration of flavorful foods, and the wines he creates go hand in hand.
It is our idea, not to put wine up on a pedestal. It should be enjoyed everyday with fine fresh foods from your imagination, good friends, and the thought to experience all nature has to give us.
